West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses located in Beckley, WV, is currently inviting applications and nominations for the following employment opportunity:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering within the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences seeks to hire an Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering. The position is 9-month, full-time, tenure-track, and benefits-eligible.


The successful candidate will be responsible for making a significant contribution in teaching required and elective undergraduate courses in computer engineering, participating in ABET accreditation processes, making an important contribution in pursuing scholarly activities/research, and making a reasonable contribution in providing service to the department, college, institution, and professional community. The successful candidate will teach required courses in digital logic, microprocessor systems, and computer architecture and various elective courses in computer engineering. The successful candidate will also be expected to engage with student projects in computer engineering topics.

  • An undergraduate degree and a doctorate in computer or electrical engineering or a closely related field are required.

  • Must show a strong background in digital and microprocessor systems and computer architecture and systems, preferably with demonstrated practical and applied experience in this field.

  • Good oral and written communications skills are essential.

  • Must show an interest and potential for excellence in classroom and laboratory teaching and in scholarly activity/research.

  • Must show willingness to serve on committees.

  • Candidates who are approaching graduation prior to appointment date will be given full consideration, but completion of the doctorate degree must occur before the effective date of the appointment.
