Location: Warsaw, Indiana
This position is responsible for assisting development engineers in all phases of product design and development. The incumbent will also complete various associated training activities under assigned engineering or management staff.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
•Develops, evaluates and/or improves product designs for both new and current projects under the direct supervision of assigned engineering or management personnel. •Learns to confer as necessary with appropriate planning, quality, regulatory, manufacturing and engineering staff in order to ensure efficient and manufacturable product designs •Generating comprehensive protocols for testing/analyzing the product •Generating design assurance documentation for the product •Becomes familiar with Regulatory and FDA submission paperwork in support of product development •Becomes familiar with production routings, bills of material and quality assurance documentation for product development •Supports new product development activities through introduction to manufacturing plans, risk analyses and related costing estimates •Learns to function in a business environment by supporting department goals and setting individual personal session and program goals
Expected Areas of Competence
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required •Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a team •Must have time management and organization skills, with strong attention to detail •Ability to establish a process method which meets performance and quality requirements •Ability to identify customer requirements for a new product •Familiarity with drafting standards and geometric differences and tolerancing •Experience working with CAD design software is beneficial
•Must be actively enrolled in an academic program for the entire duration of the assignment •Pursuit of Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
