FSO (Facility Security Officer)
This is NOT a security guard position.
Programs, develops, and administers security procedures for classified or proprietary materials, documents, and equipment. Serves as administrative custodian of classified documents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Studies federal security regulations and restrictions relative to company operations.
Directs activities of personnel in developing company security measures which comply with federal regulations.
Consults with local, district, or other federal representatives for interpretation or application of particular regulations applying to company operations.
Prepares security manual outlining and establishing measures and procedures for handling, storing, safekeeping, and destroying classified records and documents, and for granting company personnel or visitors access to classified material or entry into restricted areas.
Investigates security weaknesses or violations and prepares reports specifying preventive action to be taken.
Reviews and processes requests for personnel security clearances in accordance with prescribed regulations and procedures.
Maintains a record of all security clearances and assists contractors in coordinating approval of required clearances and investigation matters.

Must be able to obtain and retain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance if required.
Must be willing to work in an environment that requires a “Safety First” attitude. Employee must be willing to obey all Safety, Health & Environmental rules/regulations prescribed by regulatory agencies that are incorporated into company policy. Employee must report any unsafe acts or conditions immediately to their supervision and participate in a team hazard to produce a work place that is free from hazards and personal injury.
Must be able to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university is preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must enroll and complete various security courses through the Defense Security Service (DSS).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
