Job Description:

Caterpillar's Material Handling and Underground Division is currently seeking a Logistics Analyst II at its East Peoria Facilities. In this role you will be responsible for providing logistics services and supporting product development by conducting purchasing tasks, arranging for inbound and outbound shipments of supplies, components, and other materials, and overseeing storage and internal logistics of machine components.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee logistics for product development activities in its facilities.

  • Make safety and health a priority during all work (and home) activities. Engage in Caterpillar's culture of safety and participate in efforts and activities to continuously improve the safety of operations.

  • Create and issue purchase orders. Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery of high quality products and services. Negotiate with suppliers for competitive pricing and favorable terms.

  • Prepare documentation for cross-country and international shipments. When required, arrange expedited shipping to meet program deadlines. Resolve transportation issues.

  • Oversee internal material flow and storage including unloading of trucks; transfer of material between dock, warehouse, and shop areas; and management of warehouse inventory and storage areas.

  • Work with other logisticians, engineers, mechanics, and supervisors in a collaborative team environment to support completion of facility and program work in a timely and cost effective manner.

  • Analyze costs and benefits of different options for purchased products and services. Identify cost reduction opportunities for purchases.

  • Ensure that all materials and shipments comply with environmental, health, and safety requirements.

  • Provide ideas for continuous improvement (CI) to the safety, quality, velocity, and cost of logistics services at the proving ground. Aid supervisor in implementation of CI ideas.

  • Use a variety of systems and software to conduct purchasing, shipping, and receiving tasks. Use Microsoft Office to create documentation, track work, and analyze options
