Job Description:

Associate-Research with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
Duties: Associate-Research with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY. Develop low latency Direct Market Access platform for Equities Cash and Options Trading. Develop tools for performance monitoring, order monitoring and operational risk mitigation. Investigate suitable new technologies and platforms for improving performance of the trading platform. Develop risk checks and operational controls optimized for speed and reliability. Participate in shared team responsibilities such as testing, production support, code reviews, and feature design. Keep current with knowledge of market microstructure, exchange rules and order types (e.g. limit, pegged, iceberg) in the U.S., Canada and Brazil. Mentor new hires on the team and train members on off-shore teams, including participating in weekly prioritization of projects and identifying and addressing bottlenecks in software development lifecycle practices used within the team. Onboard new clients and exchanges in the production environment and see these through the full development and testing, release and monitoring cycle.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related position involving the development of high performance, low latency and high resiliency applications. Prior work experience must include three (3) years with: software programming in C++ for high-performance, low latency and high resiliency distributed architecture systems for equities trading; working with operating system internals and interfaces such as system calls; working with inter-process communication mechanisms including shared memory and synchronization primitives; profiling, analyzing and resolving performance bottlenecks in trading applications; researching and analyzing feasibility of new technologies for networking, storage, data processing and system resiliency; debugging software and investigating crashes using tools including gdb and valgrind; experience with the development, production implementation, and maintenance of mission critical software in a high performance, object-oriented programming language.
