  • Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product

  • Checks drawings versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standards

  • Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECO documentation

  • Review of drawings produced by others for errors or omissions

  • Conduct independent design of fixtures, tooling, and in-house test equipment

  • Analyze problems on existing designs and provide innovative design solutions

  • Work with CAD system management including file maintenance, backup and storage

  • Produce finished mechanical drawings from CAD software generated solid models and assemblies

  • Produce dimensioned and toleranced drawings for machine shop or sheet metal fabrication

  • Revision and release of controlled drawings through formal ECO process

  • Escalates ECO issues to proper levels

  • Constructs Bills Of Material (BOM)

  • Coordinate and perform Materials assessment of ECO

  • Executes the procurement of fabricated components and materials in support of new product development engineering

  • Evaluates, selects, and routes material shipments in accordance with procedures and criteria of the applicable project

  • Uses corporate material management resources to support project operations

  • Coordinates and performs shop expediting of materials and components

  • Monitor and report suppliers’ and subcontractors’ activities and deliverables in accordance with the integrated project schedule

  • Work with suppliers and other project team members to resolve schedule-related problems quickly, economically and effectively

  • Effectively communicates information to co-workers, customers and suppliers, which they require to do their jobs. This communication must be objective and accomplished in a neutral to positive manner


  • Minimum 10 years of product design/engineering experience, including the use of standard mechanical engineering CAD software (SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, Inventor or equivalent)

  • Thorough working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5M-1994 dimensioning and tolerance standards

  • Experience with robotics and mechanism design preferred

  • Experience in design for manufacturability and assembly

  • Experience with the design and manufacture of machined components, sheet metal, and welded components

  • A desire to be a part of and to lead highly motivated teams in a fast pace dynamic environment

  • Ability to use Windows based PC's and standard software applications including Excel and Word

  • Experience with Agile PLM and JDEdwards/Enterprise One software required

  • Ability to identify, quantify and permanently resolve problems

  • Ability to handle simultaneous tasks in a fast environment

  • Ability to positively communicate with customers (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments

  • Ability to communicate plans, projects and capabilities to Senior Management

  • Must be very detail oriented
