Job Description:

MP Nexlevel, LLC, a leader in the underground utilities industry, is looking for a Natural Gas Foreman. 

Position includes working outside in various weather conditions, subject to being on call duty, after hours and emergency call outs, enter confined spaces with safety harness and tri-pod and all safety equipment, exposure to chemicals, electricity, work/be around light power equipment, slippery surfaces, work below ground level and odor. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and coordinate the activities of the gas and street department under the direction of the Natural Gas Supervisor

  • Lead a small crew of Service Workers in routine installation/maintenance of mains and services

  • Assist in training of new employees; receives work orders, plans and assigns work for subordinates

  • Make and adjust work assignments

  • Maintain daily reports and records on gas as they apply to daily job functions

  • Review and evaluate the work of subordinate employees

  • Prepare and request for equipment, supplies and materials

  • Prepare technical and administrative reports

  • Enforce safety rules and other accident prevention measures

  • Report defects and needs for major repairs to supervisor

  • Install and repair gas mains and services

  • Dig and fill ditches, load dirt, asphalt, clay, gravel and other construction materials

  • Initiate gas services and perform customer appliance safety checks as well as lighting of various gas appliances

  • Read and perform maintenance of gas meters

  • Perform leak repairs on gas meters and service lines with minimum supervision

  • Assist with the installation of valves and regulator stations and assemblies

  • After sufficient experience and training, perform stand-by emergency call duty

  • Operate back hoe, truck, trailer, boring machine, trencher, butt fusion machine, mini fusion machine, saws, etc.

  • Conduct gas valve maintenance program

  • Update gas maps

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a basic knowledge on how to repair and maintain integrity of corrosion control

  • Must have knowledge of materials, methods, practices and equipment used in natural gas facilities maintenance and repair activities

  • Ability to communicate verbally using the English language

  • Ability to make estimates of time and materials needed

  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to read and interpret sketches, diagrams, blueprints and charts

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public

  • Considerable knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques

  • Must have knowledge of approved methods and tools used in gas piping, installation and maintenance work

  • Realizes that there are some dangers associated with operating and maintaining natural gas systems and following established procedures to eliminate risk

  • Must have high school diploma or acceptable equivalency diploma

  • Seven (7) years of experience in natural gas distribution, including construction, maintenance, leak detection and cathodic protection

  • Experience in heavy manual labor and the use of hand and light power tools preferable in the gas system area

  • Must have valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License

  • Must pass post offer FDOT drug screening

  • Be able to lift and carry 45 pounds and over, acceptable eyesight (with or without correction), acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid), ability to communicate orally, be able to climb, walk, stand, kneel, bend, smell, stoop, drive and operator equipment
