  • Support development teams in design and development of manufacturing hardware such as assembly fixtures, light automation and/or complete automated manufacturing systems

  • Provide leadership in utilization of Design for Manufacturing concepts to product development teams for manufacture of reagents, labware and optical based consumables

  • Design, develop, integrate and test manufacturing process automation, ultimately leading to release in our manufacturing facilities

  • Work cross functionally with R&D, Manufacturing and Quality to develop hardware based solutions for manufacturing new products and improve the manufacture of existing products

  • Develop tools to assist in the manual production and assembly of our products

  • Represent production and DFM requirements on development teams

  • Drive selection and qualification of critical suppliers for systems integration and capital equipment design and build


  • Experience with 3D solid modeling CAD packages

  • At least five years’ experience with Solidworks

  • Solid understanding of GD&T, ASME Y14.5 standards

  • Comfortable working and design system with mixed standard and metric units

  • Solid understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes; machining, injection molding, additive and rapid prototyping

  • Experience with PDM systems, revision control and engineering change control

  • Knowledge of fluidic systems preferred

  • Experience with PCB assembly, pick and place tooling and automation preferred

  • Experience with product development processes and project management preferred

  • High level problem solving and reasoning skills required

  • Working knowledge and understanding of statistics and DOE methodology

  • Experience with Industrial Engineering methodology and ergonomics in the workplace desired

  • Experience and understanding of basic automated manufacturing systems, tools and components (electrical and pneumatic control, sensors, metrology systems, PLCs) preferred

  • Work experience in biotech or medical device field desired

  • Experience with high volume manufacturing in a high tech consumables industry and/or semiconductor manufacturing desired

  • Good interdepartmental communication skills and documentation skills are required

  • High level of attention to detail is absolutely required

  • Self-motivated and proactive

  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish goals while working across departments is required

  • Willingness to travel in support of supplier management and coordination is required
