The postbac internship for recent college graduates consists of a temporary flexible plan of training to scientific study conduct, data analysis, report writing, product development and program management. The intern will report for 8 hours per day for approximately 1 year. At completion, the intern provides a PowerPoint presentation and a written summary report.
Review protocols and understands the study to be able to perform data analysis. Conduct research in area of anti-infectives (no laboratory work required). Assist in program management activities including drafting, revising and organizing project reports. Follow good documentation practices. Maintain a database of reports. Build or populate a database of chemical structures and interact/work closely with the Medicinal Chemists. Maintain progress during the internship toward the specific goals outlined for the intern. Adhere to Company safety guidelines. Complete all required training.
Education, Experience & Skills
Candidate must have obtained a bachelor s degree in life sciences less than one years prior to the date they begin the internship. Should have taken classes in Biology, Chemistry and/or Engineering to be able to understand the science and keywords and carry out compound calculations. No previous laboratory experience is required. Must have strong communication, organization, and record keeping skills. Understanding of drug development procedures and infectious diseases is a plus. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Type/keyboard, visual acuity, good eye/hand coordination, stand, walk, sit, twist/turn, climb, reach outward, reach above shoulder, hand dexterity, bend, squat/kneel, sense of feel, sense of hearing, sense of smell, lift/carry 10 lbs, and pull 10 lbs. Use phone, fax, copier, and computer. Organize/coordinate, analyze/interpret, calibrate precise measurements, problem solve, make decisions, supervise, plan, communicate, and prepare written communications. Equipment operation noise above conversation level with monitored access to a laboratory.
