Job Description:

Position Description

The Process Engineer is responsible for engineering activities relevant to the processes and facilities for gas treatment, liquefaction, regasification, and ship loading/unloading at Elba Island. This will include working with operations personnel and other engineers on all aspects of the process including instrumentation, control schemes, alarm management, isolation plans, operator training simulator testing and maintenance, etc.
Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Advocate and provide leadership for process safety at the LNG terminal

  • Review and contribute to commissioning and start up activities

  • Modify and maintain P&ID's, and other process related documents

  • Resolve operational issues and provide technical support for the facility

  • Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, optimize liquefaction units, debottleneck equipment, etc.

  • Conduct proactive monitoring and troubleshooting of assigned processes equipment

  • Provide technical review of MOC's and Operations procedures

  • Provide training for operations and maintenance personnel

Provide support for the development and maintenance of the process simulator
Position Requirements

Minimum requirements:


  • B.S. in Engineering

Experience / specific knowledge:

  • Must respond to and address callouts and emergencies after regular business hours

  • Previous process engineering experience (5+ years)

  • Knowledge of process safety principles, and previous participation in process hazard analysis

  • Experience with P&ID's, Cause & Effects, Controls Narratives, Material & Energy Balances and other process documents

  • Experience with Guided Wave Technologies, ABB/Siemens Analyzers, Custody Transfer Metering (Coriolis and Ultrasonic)

  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquid, and high/low pressure systems

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements

  • Must meet the criteria to maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) as required by USCG/DHS regulations

  • May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties

Competencies, skills, and abilities:

  • Computer skills (MS Office, various operating systems, and other company software)

  • Must have proven interpersonal skills and strong communications skills (verbal and written) in order to be able to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of customers

  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules

  • Ability to speak and understand English

Physical demands:

  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions

  • Climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways

  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells

Working conditions:

  • May work in low-lit areas

  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions

  • Must be able to frequently climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways, etc.

  • Depending upon the location and workload, travel will be required

Be available for shift work when applicable

Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:

  • Prefer experience at an LNG facility, pipeline, or petrochemical facility

  • Prefer Operations experience with cryogenic processes

  • Prefer process experience with mixed refrigerant systems
