Georgia Pacific’s Consumer Products Group is seeking a qualified professional for their Manufacturing Engineer opportunity to support our Fort Smith, AR Dixie® Plant, manufacturing operation for Dixie® plates. The Manufacturing Engineer will be involved with increasing the effectiveness of the asset group by improving reliability, work processes, equipment performance, and team member capabilities while working in areas such as Printing, Board Manufacturing and Converting.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Manage and execute GP’s reliability and asset strategies.  

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership in the areas of safety, asset reliability, cost optimization, maintenance spending and budget, quality capability, productivity and strategic capital planning and execution.  

  • Facilitate zone ownership strategy by transferring ownership to technicians to operate, maintain and improve.  

  • Provide technical expertise and transfer knowledge to Techs, Precision Techs, Performance Leader, Skill Builders and Asset Availability Leader (AAL).

  • Verify skills of others in the team system and address knowledge and performance gaps in their technical center.

  • Lead the continuous improvement effort to improve productivity, yield, quality, and/or reduce costs.  

  • Create an environment where the team achieves zero incidents in Environmental, Health and Safety performance metric

  • Spend significant time with team members in the production areas.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Technical field OR IN LIEU OF DEGREE, experience in Asset Strategies and/or Reliability in a Manufacturing Environment.

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years in a technical role in a manufacturing environment.

  • 5 or more years of experience working within a manufacturing environment. 

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools.

  • Experience with paper converting equipment.

  • Equipment and/or manufacturing systems reliability experience.

  • Previous training in maintenance/reliability systems.

  • Project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
