Job Description:

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the Assistant Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion (Administrator) in the Office for Diversity and Inclusion.

Reporting to the Vice President for Executive Initiatives, this position serves as the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Coastal Carolina University. In this capacity, the Assistant Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion has responsibility for guiding efforts to conceptualize, define, assess, nurture and cultivate diversity and inclusion as an institutional resource for the University. The AVPDI provides point leadership to vision development and implementation of diversity and inclusion in the University community.

Qualifications: Master's degree is required. Must have extensive experience in initiating, managing and supporting programs related to diversity, equity and inclusion. An excellent command of all aspects of diversity issues in higher education; ability to teach and facilitate diversity related training programs is required. Demonstrated and progressive achievements in higher education employment with tangible results are considered essential. Ph.D. is preferred. Experience working in an academic setting of an institution of higher education is highly desirable, especially with faculty in the area of curriculum development and program review. Additionally, a successful candidate should possess knowledge in higher education administration; strong project management skills; and the ability to identify and secure alternative revenue sources. Must be: creative, analytical, and be driven by challenges and oriented to the achievement of specific goals. Must be particularly astute at navigating an institution's political landscape and willing to challenge accepted approaches or to propose new ones. The incumbent must have the skills and abilities needed to gather data, compile information and prepare reports and proposals. Knowledge of equal employment opportunity laws and regulations are also required. The incumbent must have the skills needed to work in a team environment and to effectively communicate with a wide-range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
