Charter s is making significant investments in technology that will change the way our customers interact with their services. Leading the way is Spectrum Guide, an internally designed, cloud-based, on-screen, interactive user navigation experience. Spectrum Guide serves as the primary means by which our customers will explore, find and engage with our wide variety of traditional and IP delivered content. It is THE priority initiative and flagship product for all future video customer installs, and in time all customers.
This new, intricate position will serve as the bridge to secure the transition from Product Development to product launch and code readiness for Spectrum Guide. The relentless, hawk-eye precision candidate will be deeply ingrained with test and code release management teams, partnering to achieve common goals. In order to secure an engaging and fail-safe experience for our customers, this subject matter expert will guarantee code and deployments that consistently produce quality in a frequent and timely manner. Identifying opportunities for improvements and efficiencies, the Director will deep dive into test planning and results. He/she will initiate and participate collaborative interactions that fulfill the roadmap for code deployment.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
This position is made of up three core areas of focus:
Partner with development and management teams to jointly determine the scope (features and defects) of each code release and the specific technical components required for each code bundle.
Develop a unified process to escalate proposed scope changes early and often.
When faced with development or test delays, or other constraints, propose mitigation options that will preserve the integrity of the intended code bundle.
Serve as the Spectrum Guide subject matter expert and product point of contact for test teams including QA (Software Engineering), SIT and MRT (Tech Services) as it regards test cases, test duration and test results.
Monitor each code and related status as it enters and exits each test cycle. Regularly communicate successes and risks that impact ability to meet defined goals
Explore status of blockers and new, potentially gating issues as they are uncovered by test teams.
Identify and recommend new and/or adjusted changes to test cases that secure end-to-end product testing while simultaneously improving test efficiencies.
Request and/or perform specific, dedicated testing in advance of code exit.
Align with Software and Advanced Engineering and Video Operations for release management planning to jointly determine code deployment timing.
Assessing roadmap requirements and market needs, propose market deployment order in advance of code handoff to Video Operations.
Assist with management of a large capital budget.
Performs other duties as requested by supervisor or other executives.
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Strong knowledge of cable and telecommunications products, services and technology
Strong knowledge of and experience with legacy and cloud video platforms, including IPG, CPE, VOD and Applications
Strong knowledge of agile methodology and tools
Ability to communicate to executives orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
Ability to analyze and interpret data and to make recommendations based upon analysis and expertise
Ability to supervise and motivate others; lead small and large teams in person and via phone
Ability to work well with people from all levels of organization, many different disciplines and varying degrees of technical and business experience
Ability to resolve problems, handle requests or situations, in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Ability to conduct detailed financial and technical assessments to deeply understand the nuances of their business and to drive business results
Strong knowledge of personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, etc.) with an ability to personally utilize these tools
BS/BA in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science
MBA is preferred, but not required

Experience in product development, testing or engineering 5-7
Deep cross functional experience working in the cable or telecommunications industry 5-7
Experience introducing new software to customers 4-5
Experience directing internal and external teams 4-5 Experience writing, running and monitoring test cases; management and aggregation of test 2-3
Experience with cable headend architecture (Cisco, Arris), Video on Demand and DOCSIS preferred
Experience in developing and managing interactive program guides
