Network Fiber Splicing Specialist
Position Specific Description: Responsible for managing the fiber optic splicing activities throughout the FiberNet service territory. Creates route design and maps for new services, writes step by step procedures for active network changes, resolves network fiber troubles and provides project assignments to splicing resources. Plans logistical arrangements for field splicing. Organizes the planned splicing activities in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Schedules splicing activities with both internal resources and external contractors. Tracks and documents the progress of splicing activities. Provides regular updates to project managers and key stakeholders. Completes fiber acceptance analysis at the conclusion of each splicing activity. Reviews and approves invoices from splicing contractors, completes contractor performance evaluations. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 3 years of experience in a Fiber Optic Network role are required.
High school diploma / GED
Experience: 3+ years in telecommunications/wireless industry
Three (3) years of experience with outside plant fiber optic cable splicing
Knowledge of GIS tools such as ESRI, Google Earth
Customer service orientation with a strong problem solving approach
Ability to manage and process multiple data streams
Experience with construction engineering drawings
Project Management experience
