The Department of Modern and Classical Languages at the University of Houston is soliciting applications for a Visiting Associate Professor. Responsibilities will include teaching and research projects within the department.
The Department of Modern and Classical Language offers the Master of Arts in World Cultures and Literatures, the Bachelor of Arts degree in Chinese Studies, French, Italian Studies, and World Cultures and Literatures (with concentrations in Ancient Studies, German Studies, Francophone Cultures Studies, Global Cinema Studies, Global Modernity Studies, and Middle Eastern Studies), a minor in Jewish Studies, a minor in India Studies, as well as minors and /or language instruction in thirteen languages. With over 40,000 students on the University of Houston campus and one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse public universities in the nation, UH (www.uh.edu) is a Carnegie-Designated Tier One Public Research University.
Successful candidates must have a complete Ph.D., a strong knowledge in teaching in the area of Spanish Caribbean. The Department is mostly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from a diverse background and demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education to all students at the university.
