Reporting to the Supervisor of Family Tax, the Full Charge Bookkeeper role is essential to preparing and supporting the business and financial endeavors of our department’s clients. You will be in a very important and visible position that will include handling confidential and sensitive financial information. 

What You Will Do

  • Track and book financial transactions for Family Tax department clients and their businesses

  • Assist with complex estate planning transactions and appropriately reflecting these in client personal financial statements

  • Maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements

  • Monitor cash balances and prepare cash flow statements

  • Ensure all financial reports and functions are prepared accurately; and make suggestions for improved processes and report formats

  • Preparation of payroll, quarterly and year-end tax reports, and EDD reporting

  • Handling client AP/AR, and bank reconciliations

  • Assist accountants to gather, book and reconcile information for tax return preparation

  • Assist clients with loan or refinancing applications

  • Collaborate with clients’ outside bookkeepers, accountants and financial advisors

  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail while maintaining confidential information

What You Need

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution

  • 4 years of bookkeeping experience to include 3 years of experience in double entry accounting and full lifecycle payroll processing reflecting increasing levels of responsibility

  • Computer skill requirements include: intermediate MS Word and MS Excel and intermediate with bookkeeping software such as Peachtree, Quickbooks or Famous

  • Possess a basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Uses discretion when dealing with confidential information

  • Required to pass a Credit Check

What Will Set You Apart

  • Associates Degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping

  • 7 years of double entry accounting experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility

  • Experience in preparing tax returns (not required, but helpful)

  • Attention to detail and ability to self-check work product

  • Ability to work independently but also a good team player

  • Ability to comfortably converse with both senior and young adult department clients with calm and poise
