Job Description:

The Technology Analyst contributes to the design, implementation, support, and maintenance of automation, computing, and database systems essential to carrying out the responsibilities and daily activities of Division or Board staff.
The Technology Analyst in the MSA section will serve on a small but growing

team of data analysts and software engineers. The Technology Analyst will

work to improve data management and analysis in the area of monetary policy

and research by developing systems and tools, modernizing legacy data intensive

systems and processes, providing consultation to data maintainers and

economists, and evangelizing good practices for data management and software

development. Technology Analysts are expected to evaluate requirements and

designs in order to recommend and implement the appropriate technical solution

for each project or request.

Successful applicants are expected to have a bachelor's degree and at least

2 years' experience developing custom solutions leveraging relational or nonrelational

data stores (such as PostgreSQL or Cassandra), data analysis software

(such as R or Spark), and general purpose programming languages (such as

Python). Applicants should have skills in problem diagnosis and resolution,

ability to apply knowledge and creativity to a wide variety of assignments,

understanding of the interrelationships among systems, strong leadership and

communication skills, and ability to learn quickly.

Additional desirable skills/experience include:

  • SQL database design, implementation, and maintenance

  • High performance computing for big data analysis

  • Team software development using Git and agile/scrum development practices

  • Automated software testing, such as unit testing and continuous integration

  • Data visualization

  • Project management

    Candidates should be organized and self-starting while also exhibiting a desire

    to collaborate with others, develop new skills, and stay updated on current and

    new technologies. Candidates must be comfortable working with colleagues

    representing many different disciplines and experience levels. Candidates will be

    expected to submit a portfolio of work upon request.
