Position Purpose & Summary
The Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Manager is responsible for leading internal and external collaboration and connectivitiy in the Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) to ensure leveraging of best practice and consistency of FSQR policies and standards across multiple facilities within Cocoa & Chocolate North America. The FSQR Manager is responsible for the management of the FSQR function including continuous improvement of FSQR processes and systems, implementing FSQR policy in the business, ensuring and auditing compliance, talent management, customer specificaitons and quality issues and assist in managing the external FSQR environment.
30% Brand protection and strategic focus – Leadership of a FSQR team responsible for the the development of the core FSQR programs and processes, guidance, objectives, and training for key personnel. Target efforts designed to increase the food safety and quality operating knowledge of the site FSQR Leaders and their teams. Drive improvements in hazard analysis, risk evaluation and leadership in food safety. Develop strategy for the implementation of total quality management programs for CCNA. Mentor and develop food safety, quality and regulatory knowledge and ownership throughout the business unit. Prepare and communicate yearly and mid-year Food Safety metric results, and utilize this information along with CFSQR, CCNA and plant initiatives to establish business unit continual improvement plans. Establish policies and practices that enable compliance with Cargill Food Safety and Regulatory Affairs, FSSC 22000, regulatory, customer requirements and FSMA requirements. Support and coordinate multi-year capital planning for food safety/quality improvements.
30% Collaboration/Culture - Responsible for the FSQR team that builds trainng materials and delivers training solutions to internal stakeholers, both operational and commercial at various levels in the organization related to FSQR issues, practices and risks. Promote the development of food safety mentality/culture across all of CCNA. Proactively improves the professional competency related to food safety, quality and regulatory of the CCNA FSQR team, operations and commercial teams. Establish collaborative working relationships that leverage resources across multiple groups and geographies. Identify and communicate best practices, vulnerabilities, inconsistencies and potential food safety risks to shape strategic solutions. Influence key stakeholders and decision makers regarding the proactive implementation of food safety and quality initiatives. Work with key functional groups to share knowledge and assure alignment, including Strategic Sourcing, Sales, Research and Development, Operations, and Customer Service.
25% Improve and Aligned Systems – Leadership of a FSQR team to lead, align, implement, and continuously improve food safety management systems for the business. Focus on improving collaboration, reducing complexity, improving efficiencies and reducing unnessecary uniqueness is essential in these activities. Ensure that Food Safety gap, certification and surveillance assessments are completed per Cargill requirements and provide guidance associated corrective action plans to drive improvements. Ensure appropriate corrective and proventitive actions are taken to close gaps and promote continuous improvement. Perform ongoing evaluation of audit criteria vs. internal systems to ensure all sites understand compliance requirements. Assure all certification and surveillance assessments are completed and evaluate corrective actions for effectiveness and closure.
15% New Business Growth - Support new business growth (DNPSS and PDP) by reviewing food safety impact and identifying requirements to meet new development needs. Colaboration lead in the CCNA Commercialization process, appropriate management of change, specification development and review, regulatory review for all new products and geographies. Ensure appropriate resouces are trained and available to support growth initiatives at various stages of development.

- Bachelor's degree
- 8+ years of proven experience leading teams, leading food safety, product quality or continuous improvement efforts
- 4+ years experience working in manufacturing/processing facilities
- Exceptional Problem Solving Skill Capability
- Business Acumen
- Ability to deal with ambiguity
- Ability to hold others accountable to meeting aggressive targets
- This role requires strong competencies in the areas of leadership, influencing, communication (including written), teamwork, interpersonal effectiveness, initiative, facilitation, project management and process discipline
- Strong computer skills especially MS Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint management
- Master’s degree in science field (food science, microbiology)
- Demonstrated success in leading 'rapid' continuous improvement efforts
- Experience creating and executing plans to drive organizational results
- Managing complex projects in a cross-functional environment
- Project management skills.
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or training
- Flexible, able to work nights and weekends when necessary.
