Job Description:

The Director of Product Risk and Control will report to the VP, Product Support and is responsible for managing the product administration of the inforce block of annuity product and benefits by proactively and reactively researching and conducting self-audits to ensure integrity of ongoing administration.  This will include ensuring integrity of processes and product rules, and alignment with original design, pricing, and regulatory filings for 300+ fixed and variable annuity product & benefit combinations.

  • Managing, coaching and developing a high?performing team of 4-5 product professionals

  • Managing the administration of the annuity block of business, inclusive of all acquisition blocks and vendor processes, including small blocks of variable life

  • Providing product subject matter expertise on resolution of issues, including specification development, remediation strategy and various committees

  • Ensuring accurate product content in annual updates of 40+ product prospectuses

  • Ensuring accurate portrayal of product features in marketing materials and websites.

  • Partnering with Audit and Risk; manage, prioritize, resource and coordinate ongoing reviews of the inforce block through self-audit program

  • Make data driven decisions, with a commitment to continuous process improvement; effectively identifying actions steps and resources

  • Responsible for identification of risks and proper reporting

  • Collaborating with various business partners and control functions to inform and gain support for resolutions and enhanced processes

  • Provide product subject matter expertise to business partners strategic efforts as needed.


  • Bachelor?s Degree or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years of experience in financial services with product support or product management knowledge

  • Continuous Improvement or process optimization experience

  • Experience leading and developing talent

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication/presentation skills

  • Approach work with intellectual curiosity and transparency with an openness to giving and
    receiving feedback

  • Self?motivated and proactive leadership, thinking beyond functional responsibilities to
    broader business strategy

  • Highly organized, collaborative, and adept at handling multiple, changing priorities
