Moog Inc . is a worldwide designer, manufacturer, and integrator of precision motion control products and systems. Moog's high-performance systems control military and commercial aircraft, satellites and space vehicles, launch vehicles, missiles, industrial machinery, wind energy, marine applications, and medical equipment.
Here's what you can expect day to day as a Final/Shipping Inspector :
There are two basic functions involved in this position: Inspection and Coordinating
Review of the completed hardware for external visual and dimensional features such as tie-wire, damage, nameplates, lead length, potting, envelope dimensions, assembly date stamp, etc.
o Also, review test data sheets for conformance to specifications, legibility, etc. Insure that all shipping documentation is correctly executed and approved.
Accurate record keeping is required relative to serial numbers, models, cure dates, etc.
As an FAA "Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative" the incumbent must certify that hardware conforms to design data and is in a condition for safe operation.
As an FAA "Repairman," the incumbent is required to certify that newly repaired and overhauled hardware conforms as stated above.
Assist in the procurement and updating of Moog's Part Manufacturing Approval (PMA).
Build a working relationship with the FAA "Manufacturing Inspection District Office" (MIDO) and "Flight Standards District Office" (FSDO).
In order to carry out these tasks, you must maintain and have a thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations Part 21, (subpart K&L ), Part 45, Part 183, Order 8130.213, as well as a variety of advisory circulars, using his/her knowledge of FAA requirements, procedure, and policy.
Contacting and presenting completed hardware and software to customer and government representatives for approval and coordinating the shipping procedure by obtaining data packages, packing slips, government and customer shipping papers, and hardware in proper sequence.
Anticipate the needs and possible delays and obstructions in shipping process and through intervention "pave the way" for expediting shipments.
o This includes personal contact with customer, government, and FAA representatives, establishing priorities for Sales and Quality clerical personnel, and resolving problems incurred with in house customer and government representatives relating to the shipping process.
The coordinating function requires considerable initiative, and above average human relation skills particularly when working with customer representatives.
Here's what you need to bring with you:
A two year technical degree with three years machine shop and/or quality experience
High School Diploma, or equivalent, with seven years' experience in a manufacturing and/or quality environment.
At least five years of experience in Inspection, Quality Assurance or related fields.
A solid background in reading blueprints and measuring to required tolerances; you must know these functions inside and out
In accordance with strict Federal Aviation Agency regulations regarding Safety Sensitive Work (S.S.W.), employee enrollment & participation in the company's F.A.A Drug & Alcohol Program is a requirement for this position.
This position requires knowledge of Quality requirements related to Moog product lines and familiarity with customer and Moog product specifications.
