In the absence of a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor this incumbent will provide the technical supervision of all Clinical Laboratory testing systems. . One major area of support provided by this position is that of \'general supervisor\' as defined by Medicare under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (42CFR493.1461 & 1463). This position will also use his/her expertise to assist patient care providers, to provide bench level training and to mentor new staff and is responsible for the successful completion of additional assigned functional duties. Incumbent is accountable to ensure timely and accurate results are reported to the appropriate hospital staff and physicians in a courteous and professional manner.
Scheduling of hours may be changed, as company deems necessary.
Nature and Scope:
Renown Health Laboratory is a 24-hour/7-days a week operation, providing laboratory services to an inpatient and outpatient population of all ages.
The major challenge in this position is to perform quality and timely laboratory tests for a diverse patient population of all ages (infants, toddlers, pre-school, school-age, adolescent, adult, and geriatrics) through appropriate organization of workload, completion of quality control procedures, proper specimen identification, and ensuring proper instrument/equipment operational status. Test results must be clearly reported to nursing and/or medical staff through direct communication or result entry by computer.
The incumbent is responsible for training students and mentoring new personnel. Training will be conducted and communicated through acceptable adult learning methods. When requested by leadership, incumbent will write and review new procedures for the department and must have working knowledge of the CAP accreditation and inspection process.
The incumbent must consider the age of the patient when performing testing and releasing results. Must be able to communicate with a diverse patient population and their family when performing special procedures. Behavior promoting positive customer service is expected at all times.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Senior reports results in the Laboratory Information System and keeps nursing personnel informed to assist in and expedite patient care. Notifies appropriate nursing personnel when a laboratory informational system or instrument is out of service.
The incumbent must be knowledgeable of and observe all safety requirements in a laboratory and hospital setting. Comprehensive knowledge must be maintained for all procedures that are required to be performed. Competency in work related skills must be demonstrated annually.

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Appropriate education to obtain and maintain Clinical Lab Scientist licensure in the State of Nevada based on licensure criteria.
Minimum three years of experience as a nationally certified Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Medical Technologist) according to the job posting.
A current State of Nevada Clinical Laboratory Technologist license is preferred and the ability to obtain a State of Nevada General Supervisor license within 7 months is required. Failure to receive General Supervisor licensure will result in demotion to Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems.
