Under the direction and/or guidance of the Information Technology leadership, this position is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, optimization, co-ordination and use of all Renown Health Entity databases, which are under the custodial responsibility of Information Technology. This position will also perform application development to support Renown Health goals and objectives; provide an alliance with the various departments for development of any Data Warehouse, and focus on the organization's strategic direction for information dissemination and business systems. The position will also work with other Information Technology staff to maintain existing and future applications and provide data extracts to internal and external users as needed to meet the organization's goals and contractual obligations.
Nature and Scope:
This position is responsible for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of logical data model and physical databases for multiple departments to ensure effective use of data resources. Also responsible for monitoring database performance, and will work closely with the Infrastructure team on database maintenance including but not limited to database backup, restore and disaster recovery. Access to databases will be defined and controlled in conjunction with Information Protection Policies. All changes must adhere to Renown Health Change Management policies and procedures.
This position will provide instruction and guidance to management and information workers to ensure effective and efficient use of system resources. This position will also be involved in selecting software and systems that utilize database technology. Responsibilities include analysis of data requirements, resolution of data related issues and participation in Systems Development Methodology.
The incumbent will provide accurate and timely project status reporting to ensure compliance with established timeliness and recording of allocated work hours. This position has the authority to make necessary corrections to problems, prioritize projects assigned, and resolve major database failures. Decisions that must be referred to the Information Technology Manager include expenditures and staffing issues.
The incumbent will maintain and further develop any Data Warehouse including Hardware and Software platforms to meet periodic and ad hoc reporting requirements; Retrieve data from various databases for use by other staff members for reporting or quality assurance; Assist other IT staff with core application maintenance and troubleshooting as needed; Work with outside vendors to provide and collect data needed in order to meet contractual obligations and meet company goals; Assist management and users in the development of Stand Alone and Subsidiary databases as necessary; Maintain documentation for any Data Warehouse and Stand Alone databases; Maintain the integrity of databases through continuous auditing of feeder files; Remain current with technological advances in the area of database management and data warehouse solutions and techniques; Implement and enforce security for all databases; and Troubleshoot and resolve problems with databases and applications.
Additional responsibilities and overtime may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
1. Knowledge of multiple operating environments, data modeling and knowledge of database internet technologies.
2. Thorough knowledge of physical database design and structures.
3. Knowledge of one or more client-side development environments (VB, ASP, C#, Access).
4. Thorough knowledge of one or more database management systems (i.e. Access, SQL, Oracle, Sybase, Cache).
5. Knowledge of industry-standard SQL language and terminology.
6. Data security techniques.
7. Problem solving techniques.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required for user interaction and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields will receive preference, but is not required.
Minimum three years' experience in systems analysis, application design, development and maintenance is required. In addition a minimum of three years' experience with databases and/or data resource management is also required. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in hospital systems or multiple and cross platform database environments. Working knowledge of MS-SQL, ORACLE, or other databases is desirable.
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
