Position Description:
Joseph T. Ryerson and Son, Inc., one of the leading distributors and processors of metals in the US, is currently seeking an Outside Sales Representative to join our sales team in Dayton/Springfield Ohio. The successful candidate must reside in or around the Dayton area. This role will be responsible for maintaining and growing business with assigned, established customers and for securing and growing transactional business from new or not recently sold assigned customers in the Greater Dayton/Springfield market. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating all of the sales and customer service activities within the assigned accounts. This position is a new growth opportunity which involves a high volume of face-to-face customer contact and reports to the General Manager of Sales.

Roles & Responsibilities
Quickly builds strong relationships with contacts at all levels across a variety of functions within customer organizations but especially with purchasing decision makers; develops customer trust and confidence in Ryerson and its representatives
Succeeds by understanding the goals and concepts of our business and incorporating these goals daily to achieve sales and profitability targets
Works closely with our inside sales team, credit center, inventory managers, and other departments within the company to creatively achieve both company and customer objectives
Keeps customers informed about industry and economic trends and Ryerson s ability to assist customers in adapting to change
Understands and keeps up-to-date on the competitive environment and provides market intelligence to sales management to help shape service center sales strategies, price levels and working capital decisions
Increases revenue from assigned customers by selling value added services and programs; grows new business by increasing sales through profitable transactional growth
Promotes Ryerson s E-Commerce capabilities and other strategic initiatives
Manages customer accounts including implementation of MOU's margin analysis, competitive market information and quality improvement initiatives
Develops and implements appropriate sales and commercial programs
Coordinates the activities of various departments to ensure appropriate overall account management and customer s requirements are met
Consistently manages daily call planning and execution

Position Requirements:
Bachelor s degree, preferably in marketing, business or a related field of study or related experience
Minimum of 3 years previous sales experience in metals service center industry or similar industrial sales background / industry
MS Office skills a must, SAP and experience highly desired
Strong business acumen with excellent customer service, interpersonal and both oral, and written communication skills; persuasive negotiation skills
Effective problem-solving/conflict resolution skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
Highly motivated with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships quickly
Aggressive, competitive, and self-motivated attitude is essential
Keen attention to detail with a strong aptitude for math
Ability to work well and excel within a team or individually
