The Program Director will oversee the total operation of the Lagoon View Unit in accordance with Windemere policies and procedures. Develop, coordinate and implement programs and services for residents with cognitive impairment, provide a therapeutic environment that maintains each residents highest level of physical, social and psychological well-being. Provide education and clinical expertise to community professionals and caregivers.

Under the direction of the Direction of Recreation, you have the authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties.

Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set forth in Windemeres policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws and applicable professional standards.
Must be able to work cooperatively as a team member.
Keeps confidential all patient information received.
Coordinates the development of Lagoonviews objectives, policies and procedures that reflect state and federal regulations.
Works with DON and Recreation Director to establish a personnel pattern to meet stated objectives of the Lagoonview Program.
Provides in-service and continuing education for personnel, family members and volunteers regarding the residents disease process, behavior management techniques and approaches.
Acts as a liaison facilitating communication between the residents, the facility, family councils, family members and community.
Provides therapeutic dementia friendly environment in the residents personal and congregate areas
Interviews and assesses all residents and families upon admission. Coordinates the assessment, admission and discharge process.
Coordinates the development of individualized Care Plans for residents and updates process in the quarterly and annual notes.
Assures delivery of service for each resident according to their individualized Care Plan.
Drives the Windemere Van and takes the Residents on regular Outings into the Community

The Recreation Program Coordinator position is full time 40 hours per week working in the Recreation Department at Windemere. This position entails working with residents with Dementia, teaching Dementia Training to staff after first becoming Dementia Certified with Windemere provided training, driving the Windemere van, taking residents on outings to concerts and plays (mostly nights and weekends in the summer and around the holidays), and working with residents in both large and small groups. The right candidate for us would be someone who is comfortable not only working with residents but Windemere, Martha's Vineyard Hospital staff, family members, and driving the
Windemere handicap van.

High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelors degree in a related field preferred
Valid Massachusetts drivers license required

Minimum of two years experience working with the elderly population
