12 HOUR SHIFTS; NIGHTS; FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY
LABOR & DELIVERY REGISTERED NURSE:
Provides direct patient care to labor and delivery patients in a family-centered approach, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization, as well as guidelines of professional organizations.
Oversees and directs the care of pregnant women and their families. Provides care to low-risk, high-risk, and critical-care pregnant women and their families.
Responsible for the care of pregnant patients and their families in Antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. In addition, the obstetric RN cares for patients during vaginal and/or cesarean delivry, as well as other Obstetrical surgical procedures.
Serves as the primary nurse leading the collaboration of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Oversees and directs the care of assistive personnel, maintaining final accountability for the care given to assigned patients.
When the need arises, the employee will perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned by his or her supervisor.

ABOUT THIS UNIT:
This unit is a high risk unit, nurses have a great learning experience. 15 bedst; 2 bed triage; 2 bed recovery, and 2 bed OR suite. RN orientation for a new grad or someone without L&D experience is 13 weeks.

* Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Louisiana RN license. A Perinatal
* Certification by any nationally recognized certification organization is recommended.
* Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.
* Experience: At least one year of nursing experience in maternal/child or critical care preferred.
* Special Qualifications: CPR through AHA upon hire; NRP within 6 months from date of hire; ACLS within 6 months from date of hire; Fetal Heart Monitoring Education
Completion of the designated introductory fetal heart monitoring program within 1 month post hire.
Completion of the designated intermediate fetal heart monitoring education program by 6 months of hire for an RN with previous fetal heart monitoring experience and by one (1) year of hire of an RN with no fetal heart monitoring experience into a labor & delivery role.
Completion of the designated advanced fetal heart monitoring education program every two years after completion of the designated intermediate fetal heart monitoring course.
HCA On Line Operative Vaginal Delivery Course within 6 months post hire
HCA on line Shoulder Dystocia Course within 4 months post hire.
HCA on line Postpartume Hemorrhage Course within 3 months post hire.
