Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, located on Florida's Emerald Coast, seeks a PHLEBOTOMIST to join our team!
The Emerald Coast features world famous vacation destinations of Destin, Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island and is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Fort Walton Beach Medical Center is one of the nation's top performers on quality measures for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. The hospital has the tri-county's only comprehensive cardiovascular program. It is also the only acute care hospital in the area that offers open heart surgery, an Advanced Primary Stroke Center accredited by the Joint Commission, a Chest Pain Center and a Cancer Care Center that is affiliated with UAB and accredited by the Commission on Cancer.
Under the direction of the laboratory director/supervisor, the phlebotomist supplies a variety of support to the licensed technical staff and assumes the responsibility for performing phlebotomy skills appropriately and efficiently. This support includes blood collection, specimen processing, data entry of orders and patient information, distribution of reports and the filing of records. This is performed under the philosophy, policies and procedures established by the hospital and the laboratory department in a manner to assure that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
* High School Diploma or GED required
* National registration certificate preferred
* Current EMT or State of Florida LPN License preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
* One year phlebotomy experience preferred; hospital phlebotomy experience preferred
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
* Good customer relation skills including written, verbal and telephone
* Computer skills
* Filing and clerical skills. Copying and faxing skills helpful
* Working knowledge of policies and procedures of Phlebotomy
* BLS certified within required
High School Diploma/GED
