Tetra Tech, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Technical Environmental Lead - Planning and Reporting. While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety and security an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for coordinating and delivering reporting requirements defined by the Individual Permit

  • Technical Leads for Surface Water Corrective Action, responsible for confirming that the procedures being implemented comply with the technical requirements

  • Reviews reports and other submittals to confirm the content meets project requirements

  • Interacts with Project Manager to provide technical direction

  • Updates LANL databases as necessary

  • Broad applied knowledge of principles, concepts and techniques in the field of environmental health & safety

  • Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks independently with little instruction

  • Ability to work within established policies and procedures, using independent judgment and ingenuity

  • Interacts with Project Manager to provide technical direction for their assigned section

  • Coordinates and delivers reports per requirements defined by the Individual Permit

  • Ensures compliance is met for the Individual Permit surface water monitoring program

  • Communicates with technical peers in other program areas, such as surface water monitoring technical staff, to ensure consistency and to eliminate potential conflicting technical direction

  • Maintains training records and assures training of team members is compliant with all relevant requirements

  • Reviews PMR reports and other reports and submittals to confirm the content meets project requirements

  • Updates LANL databases as needed

  • As a Technical Lead is responsible for confirming that the procedures being implemented comply with the technical requirements in the area assigned

  • Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job

  • Complies with all health & safety policies and practices



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or related field; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable

  • The career level of the position will be determined by the years of relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; after a candidate has been chosen

  • Expert knowledge and ability to develop and apply highly advanced principles, concepts and techniques of analysis and reporting requirements related to NEPA, RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, CAA, TSCA, FIFRA and natural resources laws/regulations, and sufficient practical knowledge of environmental sciences to understand and utilize scientific data

  • Skill and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them

  • Ability to have major impact on organizational success and productivity, with extensive latitude for independent judgment

  • Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels

  • Ability to contribute functional expertise to business proposal initiatives

  • Ability to develop and lead large-sized projects, including defining scope, objectives and methods

  • Ability to train and mentor more junior staff

  • Can be viewed as an expert within a specialty and as highly competent within the broad discipline, both internally and externally

  • Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job

  • Ability to work in a team oriented project environment

  • Familiarity with the LANL site and work environment preferred


    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Light Work):


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
