Location: Bloomington, Indiana
Responsible for making sure Indiana Memorial Union clients have a positive customer service experience. Ensures that function rooms are prepared and ready for the client upon arrival. Greets guests and provides a welcoming environment, troubleshoots any items needing alteration or problems that may become evident. Be a concierge and source of general information. Leads site visits and be a liaison between the client(s) and the service departments: Meeting Services, Catering, Custodial, Maintenance, and Security. Be on site in function Space. Verifies room is clean and set according to specifications, verifies that sound & AV are in working order. Greets and interacts with the client. Coordinates last minute space, equipment, set changes. Works with IMU departments to solve client concerns and/or problems. Be a source of General IMU Information / be a concierge. Other departmental / office related duties. Works with Meeting Services Setups to set function space(s). Attends planning and/or coordination meetings. Creates reports, setups assignment book for following day, directional signs, parking passes, etc. Serves as first point of contact to client. Inspects function space and verify the room(s) is prepared in compliance with guest specifications, works with other IMU departments when alterations are needed. Proactively assists client with technology, verify International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) is present if scheduled. Leads site visits and shows walk in clients function spaces if requested. Assists with inventory of equipment and supplies. Prepares confirmations to assist reservation and sales staff. Other office duties as assigned.
REQUIRED: Must be a registered IU student.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a wide variety of individuals. Capacity to work independently; be patient, flexible, and service oriented. Ability to read, write and comprehend written instructions. Ability to use PC/laptop/tablet for reservation specifications, general information, e-mail, etc. Acquainted with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc). Familiarity with computer, laptop, telephone, two way radio, microphones, sound systems, projection equipment, LCD projector, etc.Preferred Qualifications
Tourism and Events Planning majors/minors in the School of Public Health; previous customer service experience working with the public in a service related field such as restaurant, retail, cashiering, life guard, etc.Working Conditions / Physical Demands
Person in this position must be able to walk, stand and be on their feet from long periods of time (hours), sitting, standing, stoop, carry. Must have the ability to reach, bend, pull, push, and lift up to 35 pounds. Must be able to walk up/down steps. Must be available to work afternoons M-F and on weekends. Weekend shifts will be either morning 7a-2p or 2p-9p evening. Weekday shift will start at approximately 4pm and work to approximately 9pm. Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Regular attendance is required. IMU black/red polo shirt will be provided. Individual must provide own black pants or skirt, comfortable shoes.
