The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Technology Manager will be responsible for developing and leading execution of technical strategies associated with software creation in support of automated inspection and measurement applications, including development of predictive & machine learning tools. This role will have a strong emphasis on providing the resources and leadership needed to drive Automated Inspection Technology and Factory of the Future capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Engage with 3M laboratories and divisions to champion technology and product development programs to support growth.
Lead and support software development required to enable factory of the future initiatives, including predictive & machine learning capabilities.
Assemble and drive comprehensive strategies for development and manufacturing capability advancements. This includes best practices, capital and resource needs, improvement plans, standardization when appropriate, etc.
Partner with manufacturing managers, technology managers, and value stream managers to develop strategies and execution plans that are aligned to key business needs.
Provide direct supervision to software engineers.
Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Minimum five (5) years of combined experience in a private, public, government or military environment in one or more of the following areas: data science, machine learning, software development, automation, new technical introduction, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing technology, process engineering, project engineering, and/or research laboratory
Six Sigma Black Belt
Strong leadership, project management and influencing skills are needed to work with stakeholders and cross functional team members from multiple divisions and geographic locations in order to understand their manufacturing needs and help guide projects toward robust cost effective manufacturing processes
Experience with technology transfer, process scale-up and new product commercialization in a manufacturing environment
