Chief Technology Organization (CTO) technologists meet the needs of Bank of America Merrill Lynch's clients and employees by working alongside development technology teams to design, implement and support cutting edge applications and infrastructure. Teams are either aligned to a business group or enterprise wide function supporting critical systems essential to the success of Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Our CTO Industrial Placement program offers you the opportunity to develop and understand the fundamental technical and personal skills that you will need to be successful and to deliver real value to our lines of the business, by collaborating with team mates from across the globe. These teams cover all aspects of our infrastructure including servers, mainframes, networks, storage, backups, desktops, information security, communications and market data.

Whichever team you join, we expect fresh thinking from our technologists; fast turnaround and delivery means work is challenging but also satisfying as solutions move from concept to implementation.

Industrial Placement Analyst interns attend a comprehensive induction and formal training at the start of the program, and a variety of educational speaker events and networking events over the placement to aid you in your professional, technical and personal development. Interns also benefit from our Mentor and a Buddy program to ensure you are fully supported along the way.

As an Industrial Placement Analyst, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Design infrastructure used by multiple lines of business, handling billion dollars of transactions per day
  • Take responsibility for deploying and supporting core infrastructure that underpins the daily operations of the entire bank
  • Support the design and implementation of our next generation data-centres
  • Develop mobile solutions to enable our employees to work effectively in geographically diverse locations
  • Be responsible for global incident management and event management processes
  • Work with various platform teams and Business Technology Groups to help build out automated processes
  • Have exposure to the business management functions








Qualifications
  • You must be in your penultimate year of study pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university
  • You should have strong A level (or equivalent) grades and be on track for a minimum of a 2:1 degree (or equivalent)
  • We welcome applicants from varying degree subjects however it may be advantageous to be studying a Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths degree discipline
  • First and foremost we look for applicants who demonstrate a clear interest and passion for Technology, a drive to self-learn outside of studies, and an interest in improving technical ability
  • You should display an interest in, and a keenness to further your knowledge of, infrastructure including servers, mainframes, networks, storage, backups, desktops, information security, communications and market data
  • Demonstrate capacity for innovative thinking and strong problem solving
  • Display clear motivation for exploring a career within financial services
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a variety of people
  • We look for evidence of strong team-work, leadership and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is a pre-requisite
  • Demonstrates integrity and ethics by earning other’s trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions
