We are hiring for an Architectural Designer to prepare the necessary drawings and documents for fabrication and erection of projects. This role plays a vital part in the development of drawings, identification of trouble spots, and coordination of projects in the design process. 


  • Become familiar with the contract drawings, specifications and bid documents of the assigned project or projects taking particular note of exceptions to drawings and specifications in our contract. Responsible for the development of erection drawings to include:

    • Member size to consider fabrication, shipping and erection

    • Standardize as many pieces to minimize major form changes

    • Panelization to incorporate erection sequencing and stability during erection

    • Drainage of parking structures

    • Location and quantity of connections with approval of Engineer

    • Develop connection details with approval of Engineer

    • Double check work for accuracy and completeness

  • Meet with the project engineer, checker/coordinator, and project manager before beginning assigned project to determine the required engineering design input and drawing submitter schedule

  • Identify trouble spots on projects and alert appropriate personnel

  • Communicate with the architect, engineer, and/or general contractor to resolve problems with the conceptual design as they arise during development of drawings. Confirm in writing with all appropriate parties any changes mutually agreed to.  Participate in pre-engineering/design meetings as required

  • Coordinate project with engineer and team members to maintain drawing submitting and production schedules

  • Develop per the production schedule, all pieces, hardware and reinforcing drawings required for project, double checking work for accuracy and completeness

  • Develop the material listings for production, site and erection hardware required to produce and erect a project

  • Assist production as needed to resolve problems on drawings released to production

  • Visit job site or plant to review methods of erection and production for aiding in the use of economical and preferred details

  • Maintain a weekly record of time utilization

  • Be proficient at use of a 3D BIM software so as to expedite the drawing process

  • Train and mentor other drafters to develop their job skills

  • General understanding of the various departmental information and technical systems is required

  • Become familiar with and utilize software/hardware necessary to perform job function


  • 1 year of structural or architectural precast drafting preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel

  • 3D BIM experience preferred, with working knowledge of TEKLA

  • Attention to detail is required when handling drawings and specifications

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

  • Extensive knowledge of structural and architectural drafting, specifications and codes required by both production and customers

  • Associate Degree in Architectural Drafting required

  • This position reports to the Design Team Leader with a dotted line to the Vice President of Engineering

  • Limited travel to High Concrete Group plant and job sites to assist with problem solving

  • When visiting the plant or construction sites, you may need to wear PPE's or dress appropriately to protect you from exposure to chemicals, noise, dust, and temperature changes
