Job Description:

We are a small, fast growing, interdisciplinary team of passionate experts in biochemistry, microbiology, medicine, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Viome is seeking a Technical Supervisor that complies to the qualifications under CLIA Regulations. In addition, the Technical Supervisor will oversee daily operations, personnel, testing and reporting of test results of our Clinical Laboratory. This is a hand-ons position responsible for ensuring customer results are processed and delivered with the utmost accuracy. This position will report to Viome’s Laboratory CLIA Director.

This is a full-time role at Viome’s laboratory facilities in Los Alamos, NM.

Responsibilities:


  • Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained

  • Ensure lab results are reported accurately and the test system is properly functioning at all times

  • Coordinate necessary activities and preparations for all regulatory inspections

  • Support senior laboratory and management staff  

  • Resolve any technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications

  • Provide daily supervision of high complexity test performance by qualified testing personnel

  • Perform regular competency evaluations of all testing personnel and assuring that the staff maintains their competency to perform test procedures and report results promptly, accurately, and proficiently

  • Identify training needs and assuring that each individual performing tests receives regular in-service training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of the laboratory services performed

  • Present activities and metric outcomes to review and assess compliance, develop and implement remedial activity plans, as needed, and activities for quality improvement

  • Maintain operational compliance with Viome’s clinical laboratory Quality Management Systems (QMS) Program 

  • Develop and implement Laboratory Developed Test (LDTs)

  • Assist testing personnel as needed in the performance of all operational clinical tests as required to meet service imperatives  

  • Train, supervise, and assess the competency of testing personnel  

  • Order and manage inventory and installation and qualification of laboratory equipment

  • Coordinate resources with the product development team in the launch of new clinical tests products


Skills & Qualifications:


  • Doctoral, Masters, or Bachelors Degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution with 1- 4 years (commensurate with degree) of laboratory training and/or experience in high complexity testing

  • Degree in Medical Technology and ASCP certification required

  • High complexity experience in Microbiology with a preference for Molecular Microbiology and NGS

  • Practical and hands-on experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)

  • Knowledge and experience of regulatory requirements for CAP, CLIA, NYS and other applicable regulations and laws (OSHA, HIPAA)

  • Start-up experience in Biotech sector a strong plus

  • Previous experience with LIMS or similar laboratory sample/specimen management systems is a plus

  • Hands-on experience with NGS technologies is a plus
