Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to lead the operational and growth activities of the transport regulatory compliance practice; achieving customer expectations and revenue/margin goals.  As a Director, this position must operate at a strategic level, focusing on long-term plans and strategic priorities that benefit J. J. Keller as a whole.    

Job Responsibilities


  • Leads, develops and coaches multiple teams and leaders:

    • Provides clear expectations, feedback and recognition

    • Participates in the hiring/selection process

    • Writes and conducts performance evaluations and progress reports

    • Handles associate relations issues



  • Delivers results in line with the following key metrics/accountabilities:

    • Associate retention

    • Budget control

    • Client satisfaction and retention standards

    • Revenue objectives

    • Gross margin and contribution margin objectives

    • Operating profit objectives



  • Demonstrates leadership as an industry expert and guides staff on client engagements. Also provides consulting to clients directly as needed.

  • Manages logistics of fulfilling client agreements in a timely manner consistent with client expectations.

  • Sets budgets and manages expenses in line with departmental budgets and corporate business conditions.

  • Develops new and enhances existing J. J. Keller proprietary solution offerings in collaboration with Marketing, R&D, and other stakeholders.

  • Works closely with sales leadership and associates to deliver sales objectives for practice by sales channel.

  • Manages Business Process Improvement initiatives to improve internal processes to support the business.

  • Carries out responsibilities in a fair, ethical and non-discriminatory manner and ensure that staff follows these same guidelines.

  • Enforces and supports all company policies and procedures. Fully supports the company's commitment to safety and the environment and strive to maintain a clean, healthy and safe workplace.

Qualifications

Experience:


  • 7+ years of leadership experience in the transportation industry

  • 5+ years of external customer-facing experience

  • Experience managing a consulting practice with P&L responsibility desirable

  • Project management experience and/or training is preferred

  • Experience leading a remote workforce is preferred

Education:


  • Bachelor's Degree in a business or transportation related field

Other Skills/Qualifications:


  • Must be proficient in the use of a PC and MS Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of FMCSA, PHMSA, DOL and/or OSHA regulations.

  • Understanding of marketing and sales concepts.

  • Ability to develop and implement growth plans and programs.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment.

Travel expectation: 35%-50% via airplane and car to customer sites and/or industry and training events.
