The role holder will be responsible for providing strategic & tactical Direct procurement support to the S&N UK businesses and key stakeholders to ensure the business and commercial needs are met and aligned to the S&N business objectives.   The role holder will be required to liaise internally with the AWM key stakeholders including SMT, NPD/NPI teams, Finance, Procurement directs/BIFG teams, Global Directs Team, cross-divisional stakeholders and work closely with external suppliers.

  

  • Principal Accountabilities (Major end results the job is expected to achieve)


  • To provide procurement support to business stakeholders, implementing procurement initiatives to enable the development of a supplier portfolio optimised for the needs of the business. and 5 year business plan in the 5 year horizon

  • To support the development, implementation, refinement and communication of the procurement tools to underpin procurement ‘best practice’ within S&N and align with strategic business plans.

  • Identify Procurement cost reduction opportunities and deliver against Directs Cost Saving Targets across the Directs portfolio; planning cost reduction, cost avoidance and value add projects over a 12 –  36month plan.

  • To provide technical and commercial procurement expertise to all business projects and business areas across a wide range of Direct categories, contract processing and potential suppliers to guide effective sourcing decisions.

  • Coach and educate S&N personnel in the strategic sourcing model, and Supplier Selection process to enable the development of a robust supplier portfolio.

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in the workplace in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.

  • To perform all activities in compliance with relevant GMP and Quality Systems standards and specifically with FDA Quality System Regulation and ISO 13485.

A key challenge of the role will be the alignment and management of key groups, stakeholders and suppliers, across multiple business critical projects and initiatives. This role will be a major contributor to the delivery of the challenging Year on Year savings targets and Global business savings initiatives. This role will ensure that resources are aligned to the needs of the business, strategic project milestones and Direct Procurement deliverables. Stakeholder engagement and supplier relationship management will be required for all projects. This role requires the incumbent to liaise with heads of function and to be in frequent contact with department managers to ensure that their business needs and strategies are understood and to work with them to devise and implement sourcing strategies that will support their achievement. A key requirement will be the ongoing responsibility for compiling, updating and maintaining the project and initiative tracker, KPI reports and category strategy.

  • Development of strategies for all relevant categories which will achieve business targets.

  • Using business expertise, initiative and experience to resolve complex issues.

  • The development of discreet procurement strategies and risk management plans to support specific business area or site requirements such as site construction & infrastructure

  • Gaining the buy-in and alignment of internal customers and personnel to the joint development of a supplier portfolio and procurement improvement plan optimised for the needs of the business in the 5 year horizon.

  • Capturing all of the potential opportunities for value add services or cost benefit to other Procurement areas eg Directs and BIFG.

Knowledge and Experience (Knowledge and experience needed for satisfactory

      performance of the job):

Significant  Strategic procurement experience within a relevant industry. Extremely well developed influencing and communication skills, both written and oral. Experience operating effectively within a complex global matrix organisation. Strong team leadership and Teamwork skills for cross-functional activity.  Adept at developing and implementing sourcing strategies that will deliver business needs.  Excellent analytical skills. Good personal organisation. Strongly numerate and computer literate (particularly Excel). Strong commercial and contractual procurement skills.
