Georgia-Pacific’s Consumer Products Division is currently searching for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer for the Broadway Mill located in Green Bay, WI. This role will be supporting the Tissue, Towel, and Napkin Converting Departments. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with both reliability and maintenance departments in the development of long-term asset strategies, Technology, and Automation.  This position will be responsible for the safety, quality, equipment reliability, and cost performance of a group of converting assets. This is a key leadership role to ensure that we meet the challenge of improving at a faster rate than our competition.
 
The Green Bay Broadway Mill manufacturers and distributes leading commercial and retail brands of paper products (bath tissue, napkins, and towels). The mill has about 1,725 mill employees and about 600 business support employees that provide engineering, transportation, data processing and customer services. Every day, GP employees and products help maintain a strong, stable economy in Northeastern Wisconsin. 


 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


 


  • Behaving, and encouraging coworkers to behave in ways that are consistent with Georgia-Pacific’s Market Based Management (MBM®) Guiding Principles

  • Creating an environment where the team identifies and mitigates catastrophic potential risks

  • Developing and executing reliability and asset strategies including time based, condition based, operating envelope, and spare parts for responsible technology center(s)

  • Facilitating zone ownership/lean manufacturing strategies by transferring ownership to technicians to operate, maintain and improve

  • Providing safety and technical expertise, transferring knowledge to Technicians, Team Coaches, Reliability Coaches, Performance Leader, Precision Technicians, and others

  • Providing strategic and tactical leadership in the areas of EHS, compliance, asset reliability, cost optimization, quality capability, productivity, waste, and strategic capital planning and execution

  • Leading the effort to identify, investigate, recommend and implement equipment improvements, new systems and process changes that will improve productivity, yield, quality and/or reduce costs

  • Leading the effort to identify the top equipment loss/stops and work with Technicians, Team Coaches, Reliability Coaches, and Precision Technicians to implement or adjust their equipment asset strategy to close the gaps

  • Optimizing the product stream; collaborating with Manufacturing Engineers within the product stream to guard against sub optimization of a single technology center

  • Positioning the team for year-over-year competitive and continuous improvement

  • Interfacing with Team Coaches, Reliability Coaches, Performance Leaders, Skill Developers, Operator Technicians, and Precision Technicians to identify and address knowledge and performance gaps in their technical center

  • Interfacing with the Business units and all levels of management to add value to the consumer

  • Identify areas to use technology and automation to reduce employee risk and optimize line performance

  • Understanding and communicating current capability and coordinating new opportunities with Business, Operations, and Supply Chain 


 

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:



  • One of the following:


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

    • Associates Degree with two (2) or more years of manufacturing experience

    • Four (4) or more years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (i.e. leading teams, leading projects or initiatives, etc.)



  • Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel

  • One (1) or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment


 

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience in the pulp or paper industry

  • Equipment and/or manufacturing systems reliability experience
