Job Description:

New England Biolabs offers paid summer internship opportunities for students to gain hands-on, real-world experience in the biotechnology industry.  These internships are designed for students currently attending high school or undergraduate college.  Interns are involved in projects related to research, production, and business operations, and receive supervision from the NEB employee in whose laboratory, office, or department in which they are assigned.

For students working in a laboratory setting, the supervising scientist provides a research or development project on which the Intern will work with regular guidance.  Interns will be expected to present their data in an in-house seminar or poster session, typically scheduled during the first two weeks of August.

  • Students enrolled in high school or college, or accepted to an academic program pursuing a Bachelor's degree

  • Interns working in a laboratory setting must be at least 18 years old

  • Interns working in a setting other than laboratory (ex., Shipping and Marketing departments) must be at least 16 years old

  • Interns are responsible for their own housing, travel, and/or relocation expenses

  • Interns must be authorized to work in the United States

  • The application process for summer internships opens in January 2019

  • Resume review, candidate interviews (phone or in-person), and candidate selections occur between late February – April

  • Interns may work between May 6 - August 30, 2019

Summer Seminar Series - Throughout the summer, interns are provided with opportunities to hear from NEB scientists as well as external speakers. The purpose of the in-house seminar is to provide students with an overview of NEB research and development and to help interns see how their projects fit into the big picture. The external seminars, presented by invited speakers, expose students to various scientific fields.

Please submit a resume and cover letter for consideration.
