Job Description:
Schneider Electric USA is a leading manufacturer of equipment for electrical distribution, industrial control, and automation. We have the following position available in Cedar Rapids, Iowa:

Purchasing Lead: S/he will prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services. S/he purchases the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts. S/he researches and evaluates suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history. S/he negotiates, renegotiates, and administers contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives. S/he analyzes price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices. S/he plans and coordinates New Product Development purchasing activities. She negotiates supplier development and sourcing. S/he works on designing manufacturability of new product designs prior to their launch at production facilities. S/he launches part agreements with suppliers and Logistics Terms and Conditions for all parts. S/he reviews and approves purchase requests made within her project perimeter. S/he is responsible for negotiating vendor managed inventory for critical parts. S/he performs the time charged in tracking tools for project support. 25% travel to visit suppliers and manufacturing sites to North America and China.

Requirements: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Microelectronic Engineering, or related Engineering business field and three years of work experience in purchasing function in offer creation project through PMP process within a global industry. Also must have experience with: 2 years executing market based costing algorithm cost model, SRiM (Supply chain risk management), SAP, Ariba (D-data base for Request for quote), and Prism; 3 years utilizing component fabrication technology including silicon, sheet metal, thermal plastic injection and stamping for semi-conductors; 3 years applying sourcing design part component knowledge to set up strategy in global market based on TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) method; and 3 years overseeing financial and scheduling $6 Million on project management.
