The Crisis & Reputation Risk practice is one of the most respected and largest in the world, serving clients on complex crises and with 180 practitioners in more than 60 countries. Over the last seven years, the staff has increased by 70 percent while revenues have jumped 500 percent. The capabilities and diversity of talent have also grown to include former management consultants, digital leaders, sector experts, research and analytics. About the Opportunity: Edelman has an exciting opportunity for an experienced crisis management leader. We are seeking an Executive Vice President for our Chicago office to lead our Crisis and Risk team; serve as senior advisor across an expansive portfolio of clients that span sector, specialty and geography; advance Edelman IP and brand recognition within key business referral communities and networks; help enhance and scale our crisis + risk capability as part of our broader advisory services strategy; and develop new crisis specialties, offerings and capabilities to capture strategic growth opportunities.
A proven expertise in advising C-level corporate executives, boards of directors, and outside during crisis and complex issues, such as legal, cyber-security, compliance and financial matters, is preferable.
Lead and grow existing portfolio of business
Lead, coach and support professional growth of team members ensuring constant development of their skills
Provide daily strategic counsel, guidance and leadership through example to staff, ensuring the team's success by managing work quality and productivity levels
Partner with other practices and offices in both client service and new business
Advance the practice in the region and create new intellectual property for the firm
Manage financial reporting and work with practice leadership to inform monthly forecast reports
Effectively manage staff utilization to meet profitability targets
Experience in working with news media, notably business and financial media and/or investigative journalists
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as English or Political Science; a law degree is a plus
Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in crisis management
Demonstrated track record in managing high-profile crises and complex, high-risk assignments
Travel is required as needed
Background in Cyber-Security is preferred
Experience in working with legal teams, both in-house and outside counsel
