Job Description:

Provides communications counsel at the departmental level on regular communications vehicles and moderately complex project or may be a team member on highly complex projects under the direction of the Communications Partner or a senior team member. This is inclusive of writing, editorial support, and project management to ensure successful execution of corporate communications plans, tools, and vehicles, events, and projects of the department. Works with subject matter experts, staff, and management across divisions, as appropriate to support the work. Ensures communications are coordinated across all stakeholders and audiences and meet legal, regulatory, and/or accreditation requirements, while also supporting the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington brand. Responsible for producing and tracking key performance metrics internally and externally, and producing reports. Responsible for contributing to and supporting projects across a range of business units under the direction of the Communications Partner or Strategic Consultant.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides communications consultation, planning, and proactive/reactive crisis and issues management on organizational initiatives and to internal clients.
  • Writing, editing, and graphic design and oversight to support successful communications development and execution, working with department staff, Director, and cross-functionally within and beyond Public Affairs as needed. Also responsible for providing (or overseeing) production support for the appropriate mix of communication tools, including newsletter articles, presentations, InContext (Intranet) postings, broadcast emails, and manager message kits/talking points. Works with editorial and graphic services staff and/or vendors to ensure proper logo use, and alignment with graphic and editorial standards to achieve message consistency and to support Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington's identity and brand.
  • Manages and coordinates activities to support successful execution of projects and events.
  • Develops, tracks, and maintains performance metrics for department work. Ensures and informs development of and produces reports to track work and outcomes (such as media reports).

  • Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum five (5) years of acquired variety of experience inside a company and/or agency serving multiple clients with complex communications needs.
  • Produced print and multimedia, managed web sites, and communicated via social media.


  • Bachelor's degree in english, journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or a related field.
