Job Overview:  

Distribution Center resource responsible for: assessing the safety training needs of Warehouse Workers, Drivers, and Building/Fleet/Material Handling Equipment maintenance employees; determining how to most effectively deal with training needs; and managing the delivery of training programs to meet those needs in regards to safety. The incumbent will also coordinate all activities associated with OSHA, safety communications, and safety programs required to maximize employee training and compliance. 


Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate all safety-training activities for the Distribution Center; Determine safety training needs and identify most cost effective resources and training methods; Deliver in-house training programs designed to improve employee safety effectiveness (e.g., Body Mechanics, Forklift, Drug policy, OSHA compliance.)

  • Conduct safety training needs assessment on an ongoing basis based on input from various sources, e.g., feedback from supervisors/managers & warehousemen/drivers, surveys and exit interviews.  Evaluate the effectiveness of Distribution Center safety training programs and recommend and implement improvements where necessary.

  • Maintain a Master Safety Training Calendar, Training Manual, and Training Attendance Database.

  • Develop programs, procedures, and communications processes to ensure new distribution employees feel welcome, well trained, and well informed on safety issues.

  • Ensure training meets standards for regulatory agencies including OSHA, FDA, and USDA and addresses LCME recommendations.

  • Assist in training and operation of the CAM Program.

  • Assist and conduct inspections for site safety with a focus on environmental hazards with follow up correction.

Job Requirements:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety  practices.

  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.

  • Previous training experience is desirable.  The position will require that the incumbent be innovative in developing, identifying and conducting safety training programs that effectively satisfy training needs to ensure a safe operating environment at the distribution center. 

  • Strong written and oral communications, planning/organization, and coaching skills and the ability to interact effectively both one-on-one and in a group.
