Based in Kentucky, the Contract Packaging Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless day-to-day execution of production at 3rd party facilities in the US and Mexico.
In addition to continuing to deliver the base business in a timely, efficient manner, the Contract Packaging Manager will play a large role in bringing new products to market. He or she will also be responsible for driving improvement in standards, processes and reporting, as well as identifying both short- and long-term opportunities to improve efficiency throughout the manufacturing network.
The Contract Packaging Manager will report to the Director of External Spirits Operations. He or she will coordinate amongst a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, so exceptional interpersonal skills are paramount.
Ensure seamless day-to-day execution of production at existing 3rd party sites, including:
Submitting necessary documentation for production and compliance
Coordinating with materials manager and master planner to ensure dry good availability and quality
Tracking production adherence, conducting root cause analysis for any shortfalls and implementing course-corrective actions
Identifying cost-improvement opportunities
Advising Marketing on plans for new product development based on detailed understanding of capabilities, capacity and cost
Establish new processes and improve old ones for managing co-packaging partners
Work with quality to define and communicate standards, reporting processes and issue resolution, as well as conduct on-site inspections and audits
Improve transparency of product availability for order management
Support Director of External Spirits Operations in developing a KPI scorecard; responsible for gathering, analyzing data and recommending improvements
Institute weekly production performance reviews with suppliers, as well as monthly reviews with internal management
Support the Director of External Spirits Operations in identifying, negotiating, qualifying and auditing new co-packers based on evolving business needs and capabilities
Coordinate with supplier and other internal functions (i.e., Packaging Technology, Materials Management, Procurement) to establish and deliver against NPD timelines
6 or more years of relevant operational experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work exceperience
Proven analytical experience in Excel
Highly effective interpersonal skills necessary for developing trusted relationships at all levels internally and externally
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Intellectually curious; driven by challenging the status quo and making positive impact
Willing and able to travel as needed <20%
Alcohol beverage or CPG industry experience
