Position Description:

Performs functions to procure indirect materials and support the operational and strategic procurement functions of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Calculate and analyze production needs; create purchase orders to meet production demand - This includes the procurement of indirect materials, including but not limited to ingredients and spices, films and plastics, corrugated, plant supplies, PPE and janitorial
  • Coordinate and organize all activities that pertain to the Strategic Sourcing function, including but not limited to RFP's, timelines, schedules, data analysis, price negotiation, and contract management
  • Actively pursue and recommend cost savings opportunities
  • Evaluate safety stock levels of ingredients and packaging based upon product mix, sales forecast, market conditions, seasonality and lead times to ensure supply while meeting inventory objectives
  • Establish mutually beneficial relationships with the supplier network
  • Support, provide, and generate analyses and scorecards to measure supplier performance and supplier adherence to compliance requirements while providing recommendations for item improvement, supplier change, etc.
  • Develop, track and report on KPI's, analyze trends and provide recommendations to savings, process improvements, etc.
  • Review inventory accuracy between book to floor; investigate and resolve discrepancies; and provide and implement solutions for improved inventory tracking and accuracy
  • Work closely with Planning, Operations, QA and R&D to ensure materials are available on time and in full when needed
  • Participate in the data collection and management of the Approved Supplier Program, including the input of supplier data for ERP, WMS, and PLM
  • Track PO fulfillment including verification of quantities, prices and on time deliveries
  • Serve as a liaison between suppliers and production in the resolution of sourcing and supply issues, including the processing of product quality claims by gathering and compiling data, analyzing trends, and implementing a robust Root Cause Failure Analysis and Corrective Action function
  • Assist and provide comprehensive back up on raw material purchasing and other supply chain related functions as needed or requested

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:
  • Not Applicable

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field
  • 3-5 years inventory management and purchasing experience
  • Able to work with and apply complex mathematical concepts,
  • Able to effectively speak, read and write English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs and ERP systems
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
