POSITION OVERVIEW - Programmer Analyst – Austin, TX 

The Information Technology (IT) department at National Instruments (NI) is looking for experienced Programmer Analysts for its corporate headquarters in Austin, TX. A Programmer Analyst is both a software developer and systems analyst who is responsible for delivering and supporting integrated enterprise technical solutions in areas such as Enterprise Resource Planning, Customer Relationship Management, Data Warehousing, and our award winning web site,, to support NI’s global operations. 

As a Programmer Analyst you will learn the business area which you support (Sales, Marketing, Web, Manufacturing, etc.) so that you can design, code, and configure solutions to meet the business’ objectives. You will get to work with other Programmer Analysts and IT Architects in Austin as well as our international development sites in Europe, Asia and Central America to collaborate on solutions. You will also take part in the entire software development life cycle. 

Basic Qualifications 


  • Programming experience in object-oriented programming and relational databases (Oracle, SQLServer) 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Science and Technology Management, or Business Honors 

  • 5 years of application or software development experience 


Preferred Qualifications 


  • Strong interest in working with technology and programming 

  • Ability to clearly communicate in English, both verbally and written 

  • Proficient in Oracle PL/SQL, Java, XML 


  • Experience with packaged software (eg. Oracle eBusiness Suite, Sales, IBM Websphere Commerce) 

  • Knowledge of the SW Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and project management methodologies (eg. Waterfall, Agile) 

  • Experience with Oracle ERP system in a manufacturing environment is a great advantage
