The Employee Communications Specialist creates, leads and executes OCLC’s Internal Communications (i.e. communication for employees) in alignment with OCLC’s business strategy, making the best use of all appropriate forms of media. This role will also lead communication-oriented projects and communication strategy related to Change Management, Employee Opinion Surveys, and other organization-wide communication needs.

Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the creation and deployment of the appropriate communication vehicles (newsletters, e-mail, web sites, communication campaigns, internal surveys, etc.) needed to carry out the OCLC employee communications strategy.

  • Creates and distributes the weekly Inside Story publication covering a variety of topics. This publication is the primary communication vehicle for employees.

  • Provides communications consulting and guidance for teams and departments initiating internal projects or initiatives. Works directly with internal staff. Translates the communication needs into actionable steps using appropriate media.

  • Using the input of stakeholders, set the overall strategy, direction and timing of internal employee communications programming.

  • Serve as the communications partner for Corporate Human Resources initiatives and activities; Leads development of advertising and promotional campaigns for ODL/D&I programming and services.

  • Establish and manage the appropriate stakeholder groups and forums needed to inform and guide communications priorities and timing.

  • Partners with the technology group to set up communication portals on the OCLC internal website.

  • Leads large communication related project such as the bi-annual employee opinion survey, facility renovation projects, and change management initiatives.

  • Partners closely with Marketing Communications and Public Relations to ensure consistent branding and messaging.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or related field; advanced degree is a plus.

  • Self-starter and polished communications professional; comfortable interacting with multiple layers of employees within OCLC.

  • Exceptional writing skills, able to translate information and data into clear, engaging communications.

  • Strong interpersonal communicator; team player and collaborative working style; ability to influence and motivate others, champions projects and interacts with diverse groups and individuals across the organization

  • Highly customer-oriented, responsive, and execution oriented. Enjoys partnership in problem solving.

  • Highly proficient in Word, Powerpoint, and Sharepoint.

  • Experience working with web design and digital communication.

  • Experience working in a non-profit organization and/or a technology organization is a plus.
