Primary Purpose: To gain mechanistic understanding of cellular and physiological responses to the metabolic environment and metabolic stress
Participates in developing hypotheses to be tested and plans experiments under the guidance of the principal investigator and senior laboratory members.
Reads primary literature relevant to project
Conducts research experiments, maintaining appropriate records of study design and results
Evaluates research results, discussing project outcomes with laboratory personnel and reporting findings in manuscripts and grant progress reports
Presents at laboratory meetings and participates in journal clubs
Coordinates research project with other investigators in laboratory and with collaborators
Assists with initial lab set up, general laboratory supply and equipment maintenance
Willingness to carry out physiological analysis in mice and assist with maintenance of mouse colony
Bachelor or Masters in Biology or Biomedical Sciences
Minimum 2 years of experience or equivalent in molecular cell biology (PCR, qPCR, DNA and RNA extraction, immunoblotting, polysome isolation etc.)
Familiarity with animal handling and husbandry and maintenance of genetically modified mouse strains
