Primary Job Functions:

First Solar is offering co-op/internship experiences to bright and talented students, with a passion for learning. The positions will allow students to gain a valuable blend of technical and business experience in the field of solar energy, and allow them to demonstrate their skills for future career opportunities at First Solar. A mentor will coach students through assignments that are designed to integrate classroom theory with practical work.

Basic Job Functions:

As an IT Portfolio Management Office Intern, you will be performing a variety of activities to support the Portfolio Management Office.  Such activities could include; creating process documentation, drafting communication collateral such as emails, slide decks, job aids, and the execution of the PMO roadmap.  Other functions include working with IT Project Managers on technical issues with Microsoft Project and ensuring Project Managers enter the required information as they progress their projects within the First Solar Systems Development Lifecycle.  A mentor will coach students to gain an understanding of the tools and processes they will be supporting.


  • Proficiency in MS Office (Office 2013, Office 2016, or O365).

  • Experience using MS Project and SQL is a plus.

  • Program Management knowledge is a plus.


  • Preferred: Sophomore-level or higher student working toward a degree from an accredited college in Information Technology, Communication, Organizational Development, Business, or related discipline.

  • Overall G.P.A. greater than or equal to 2.75 (based upon 4.0 scale).

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Strong ability to pay attention to detail; demonstrate consistent follow-through on tasks (able to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously); be responsible and dependable.

  • Organized; able to work well with team to accomplish common goals and ensure continuity with work team despite school schedule.

  • Ability to condense process, technical and functional content into easily understood communication.

  • Flexible, agile, and collaborative.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Promote the goals and objectives of the IT Portfolio Management Office (PMO) in work products and interactions with others as appropriate.

  • Actively identify and solve technical and process related problems within the PMO.

  • Craft communications, presentations, and reports as necessary to support OCIO/PMO goals; seek approval and incorporate feedback.

  • Synthesize data from meetings, trainings, surveys, focus groups, and prepare summary presentations.

  • Benchmark and enable strategic analytics for business operations and processes and provide visibility on a quarterly basis.

  • Support training within IT as needed by creating a variety of user resources, including technical instructions and business system processes and procedures, communication deliverables, etc.

  • Support PMO efforts led within in the team, enabling successful execution of deliverables within the PMO roadmap.

  • Market and communicate to associates on the goals and benefits of the Portfolio Management Office.

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of PMO processes and applications.

  • Other duties as assigned; job description subject to change at any time.

Reporting Relationship:

  • This position reports to the manager of the team and does not have direct reports.


  • There is no travel requirement outside of the Perrysburg office location.
