The Scripps National Team in Denver is searching for an OTT Multi-Media Journalist. The digital platform is growing, and we are looking for candidates who are innovative self-starters and who can work independently or part of a team on short, and long-form documentary style video projects.
Strong enterprise skills are a must, with extensive knowledge of television news, film production and vlog style storytelling. You must be confident in your news judgement, highly collaborative, adaptive to change, and an outside the box thinker who is very authentic in delivery of the story. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects and deliver a finish product on deadline.
We are looking for someone who knows the latest storytelling trends on YouTube and internet platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. You must be able to operate and maintain an extensive level of equipment that would include cameras, editing, lighting, drones, and other live technology for broadcast and streaming.
You MUST include links to examples of your long-form storytelling techniques.
Responsible for researching, writing, capturing visual content and editing stories for multiple platforms.
Gathers and verifies factual information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research.
Organizes material, determines slant or emphasis, and writes story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
Shoots video and still photos to illustrate stories.
Edits, or assists in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms.
Appears on television program when conducting taped interview or narration.
Gives live reports from site of event or mobile broadcast unit.
Work cooperatively with photographer assigned to story, if one is assigned.
Report, write, capture quality visual content, edit and produce stories for multiple platforms on deadline, such as Internet and digital channels.
Education & Experience/Certifications
Bachelors degree in broadcast journalism or related degree or equivalent years of experience.
3-5 Years of professional experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems.
Comfortable with using lighting, lens choice, camera, composition, and camera movement to shoot interviews, b-roll, and features.
Multiple camera , multi-brand experience preferred, DSLR, cinema cameras, ENG.
Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.
Proficient at FPCX.
Apple Motion experience preferred.
Identify correct format and compression needs and complete project to specifications.
Experienced with log form story telling.
Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment.
Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.
Proficient at posting content to various websites.
Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
