Position Summary: The Underground Foreman (Gas) position is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance and repair of natural gas underground distribution systems. This position works at various locations. The position may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands.
******MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE INSTALLATION OF NATURAL GAS DISTRIBUTION LINES*****
Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work.
Supervises crew members.
Possesses working knowledge of leadership and management skills.
Capable of leading and training lower skilled employees in safe and productive work procedures.
Capable of leading and teaching all aspects of natural gas construction.
Conducts pre-job or tailgate briefings.
Possess a working knowledge of all aspects of underground distribution.
Frequently works around live gas systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
Comply with company reporting procedures and complete required company paperwork.
Coordinates and inspects the work of crew members.
Possesses knowledge of tools for installing natural gas services.
Proper care and storage of calibrating tools.
Capable of working in confined spaces.
Capable of testing and classifying soil.
Understands how to safely operate equipment.
Capable of planning safe work based on a job print or work order.
Understands sloping and shoring requirements.
Possesses a working knowledge of ladder requirements.
FRC clothing shall be worn that meets the following requirements when purging, squeezing, tapping or working around live gas:
Shirts will be long sleeved (sleeves rolled down and buttoned at cuff if applicable), fully button (excluding collared button), and tucked into pants.
Pants will be full length and worn over boots.
Coveralls that meet the requirements below may be worn in addition to or in lieu of the shirt pant combination, and must be worn fully zippered with sleeves rolled down and secured at wrist with button or Velcro. All clothing must be in good repair with no holes or stains that could compromise the integrity of the material.
Does all other related work as required to complete the job.
Must have experience in natural gas.
Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment.
A Commercial Driver’s License is required.
Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
Willing to work over-time when requested.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions. Competencies:
