Under the direction of the Director of Resident Services and Consultation of the Executive Director, the Staff Development Manager is responsible for planning, implementation and direction of all education and work schedule for all care staff, and special projects assigned by the DRS. Also assist with Residents' needs including keeping residents' room clean & organized.
Responsible for creating the monthly Resident Services Department Schedule.
Responsible for managing and ensuring compliance of all staff online training and all in-service training provided by vendors according to RCFE Regulations. Must provide hands on training for four (4) hours to all new caregivers.
Responsible for managing, supporting, teaching, assisting, leading and discipline the Caregivers.
Monitors all caregivers \"runs\" documentation by shift and duties.
Responsible for assigning Caregivers to new residents and ensure new residents are checked every 30 minutes for their first 72 hours in the community.
Responsible for creating the shift assignments for each shift and communicating to the appropriate parties.
Ensure caregivers are professional and friendly with residents, families visitor and staff including smiling, using manners and being polite at all times. Examples: \"Hi My name is ______ how may I help you?\" & \"It is my pleasure to help you.\"
Directing and coordinating all in-service educational programs of the community in accordance with current states and local regulations, including maintaining records.
Developing and securing records, reports & instructional manuals, reference materials, pertaining to in-service programs.
Shares \"on call duties\" with the Resident Care Coordinator to ensure 24/7 coverage
On Call for any call offs, no shows and scheduling issues
Coordinates annual calendar used for scheduling and managing TB testing, physical & online training for all employees of Vista Gardens.
Responsible for adding all the Veterans to the Wall of Heroes.
Responsible for all the record keeping and storage of resident's information and records.
Responsible for all caregivers following the activities program in Garden Level and TLC.
Assist the Administrator and the Director of Resident Services in ensuring that all nursing procedures and policies are enforced.
Ensure that all caregivers take lunches and breaks as scheduled an in a manner that does not incur meal penalties.
Train all new hires on proper procedures & protocol.
Responsible for ordering all the monthly supplies for the resident services department.
Supervise, assistance and support other caregivers.
Ensure all showers are completed for each shift by the caregivers. Residents must be showered 3 times per week as needed.
Responsible for adding new residents to assignment groups and shower schedule. Make sure all staff introduces themselves to the new resident.
Ensure Caregivers are staying busy and not sitting or standing having side conversations.
Notify nurse on duty of any changes in a resident's condition or falls.
Responsible for stocking the supply room and placing orders as needed while keeping the Director of Resident Services informed.
Responsible for keeping the resident list current and maintained.
Ensure that caregivers must participate in activities.
Reports any suspicion or evidence of elder abuse, mistreatment or neglect as outline in Personnel Policies.
Intervenes in situations involving unsafe and inadequate care and reports immediately to the Director of Resident Care or Resident Care LVN.
Promptly answers emergency call system, telephone and paging systems and tab alarms.
Coordinating all scheduled team member meetings, and other community-wide Team Member meetings as requested.
Participates in voluntary and mandatory on-going education and in-service training.
Possesses sufficient computer familiarity to be able to print shift task sheet, enter resident notes by typing on the keyboard, and respond to and send internal email.
Uses effective verbal and non-verbal communication to present information in a positive and non-threatening way.
Document any reports of resident's physical and emotional condition changes using appropriate terminology and abbreviations.
Demonstrates good practice of infection control principles by understanding the infections process and modes of disease transmission, and by using appropriate hand washing techniques.
Conduct daily walk-through to ensure a safe, clean and comfortable environment; geared towards recognizing environmental safety hazards, preventing on-the-job accidents and injuries; using safe practices when o2 is in use identifying and following the community's disaster plans; following the community's fire procedure, including the operation of fire extinguishers and ways to prevent fires; planning for the safe use and maintenance of equipment and practicing good infection control procedures.
Provides basic emergency care as determined by the emergency needs of the residents by providing basic first aid.
Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director of Resident Care or Executive Director.
Exercise initiative performing the assigned tasks and delegated responsibilities.
Expected to solve problems by exercising sound decision-making and accurate judgment based of sound memory care and Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly practices, management policies and procedures.
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
Be at least 18 years of age
Valid High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Two (2) or more years of experience working in the field of dementia care if preferred. Two (2) or more years of experience working in the field of assisted living is preferred. One (1) or more years of experience managing a schedule. One (1) year of experience as a Team leader. Must meet qualifications as required by the Department of Social Services for RCFE Community.
Must be able to pass a reading/writing test and understand and communicate effectively in English. Possess clear verbal and written communication skills. Ability to accurately and effectively write memos, correspondence, and other business documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, residents, potential residents, families, co-workers, medical providers, and the public.
Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out oral or written instructions.
Ability to define problems, collect information and other date, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete as well as abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to perform multiple tasks under pressure, identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; listens to other and solves conflicts; speaks clearly and persuasively; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; and emits integrity standards of the Company.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to see, hear, and use hand, fingers and arms when performing majority of assigned tasks and job duties.
The job requires to have dexterity in using telephone, computer keyboard, mouse and while seated at a desk.
Required to stand, walk, sit and stoop, frequently.
Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly. Lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally.
Moves within the building or office to interact with fellow employees frequently.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work in an environment consistent with Resident Care Facilities for the Elderly, and the noise level is usually moderate.
