Job Description


Set the technology vision for growing the Portland portfolio.  Responsible for technical decisions that will shape the strategy, vision and direction of product development to be most profitable for the company --specifically in areas of system performance and imager selection.

Serve as project manager for development of new and innovative electro-optic concepts.

Manage roadmap for new and emerging technologies that are directly as well as collaboratively/adjacently related to our core market solutions. Identifies emerging technologies which may lead to key product discriminators.  Be able to analyze and test new imager product ideas to support the new product introduction (NPI) process.

Provide technical support to product marketing and business development personnel as they pursue new business and define new products. 

Collaborate across functional teams and different FLIR sites, within the organization, to develop products that meet Performance requirements.  Effectively present concepts to internal and external customers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • System design innovation, architecture, development, collaboration and reviews with teams across multiple sites       

  • System modeling and analysis to evaluate ideas and performance.           

  • Interface with existing and potential customers to support their needs and optimize the product experience        

  • Project management

Job Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or minimum of 15 years related experience

  • US citizenship and eligible for security clearance

  • Proven track record of transitioning technology into products

  • Experience with EO/IR performance modeling programs

  • Experience with EO/IR military hardware and government customers

  • Experience working in multi-disciplined engineering teams

  • Knowledge of broad range of engineering and manufacturing practices and processes

  • Software and or firmware design experience is desired.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate to all levels of the company

  • Proficient in data collection and analysis.

  • Experience practicing design for manufacturability and quality

  • Experience with flight testing EO/IR sensors

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience designing IR imaging camera systems

  • Knowledge of video and image processing design and techniques

  • Knowledge of Matlab for system analysis

  • Working Conditions:

  • Travel up to 20% of the time, or whatever is necessary.
